Top Tanzania University Approved by TCU With the passage of the Universities Act, Cap. 346, the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) was created on July 1, 2005, with the legal authority to oversee Tanzania’s public and private university institutions.

There were 50 authorized universities in Tanzania as of March 2025, of which 19 were held by the government and 31 by private companies.
In accordance with the Universities Act, Cap. 346, the public is thus informed that any university institution that is not on this list is not permitted to provide higher education in Tanzania.

Submit the Application Carefully review your application before submitting. After submission, print or save your confirmation. Wait for Admission Results Follow up through the university portal or TCU (Tanzania Commission for Universities) announcement. Download Admission Letter (if selected) Download and print your admission letter from the portal. Proceed with Registration and Fees Payment Follow the instructions in the admission letter regarding joining dates, fee structure, and orientation.
